Volunteers Needed – GDEX

If you’re interested in volunteering for GDEX (the Ohio Game Dev Expo), follow this link and remember to mention that you’re part of the Game Creation Club at OSU!

As we mentioned in the meeting, you will only need to take a minimum of a 4 hour shift to get a weekend pass for the event. This event is Halloween weekend (October 29-30th) and will have many devs from all over the Midwest and beyond. If we can get 20 volunteers registered, GCC gets a booth at the expo for free, so if you have time Halloween weekend please consider volunteering and helping out the club!

Global Game Jam in Columbus

Long story short, there’s going to be a Global Game Jam site in Columbus – and just south of campus at that, next to Lennox Town Center. Check it out and please sign up! It will be a lot of fun, and a lot of experience. Then you can post your game in your portfolio and put the game jam on your resume. Lots of friendly faces will be there. Check out the thread in the forums [click here] to start talking about it, see who’s going, find rides, etc!

Two awesome events this weekend.  Both are beyond being simply worth attending and GCC will be at each in full force!

ACCAD Open House > Friday May 14th, 4pm – 7pm

Most of you should know what ACCAD is and what happens there (incredibly awesome cutting-edge computer arts, animation, research and development); However, many of you probably have not seen some of the projects and work that happens there in person.  The open house will have demonstrations of all of their facilities (mocap lab, just upgraded audio/visual recording studios, and brand new  and recent/current projects.  ACCAD has been graciously supporting GCC and has invited us back to demonstrate our group and our projects in a room dedicated to games.  If you’re still not convinced that you need to be at this event, maybe the added incentives of free grub and refreshments will help.  So we hope to see you out to have your minds blown and get inspired and motivated to create some awesomeness.

CORGS-CON > Saturday May 15th, 10am – 6pm

The Garys are at it again!  CORGS is holding their second annual CORGS Convention this Saturday in the Oakland Park Community Building. The convention will be packed with game and collectible vendors, local groups, local television stations, newspapers, and other media, an NBA special guest, and so much more!  GCC is headlining the event and will be having a booth set up with demos of our games.  CORGS-Con is the perfect place for fans of games, comics, and more.  There are always lots of awesome collectors items for sale like classic games and systems, various models, toys, and more.  Last year, the red bull ladies stopped by and dropped off towers of free red bull!  So come out and remember the good times and have some fun.  Free parking | Free admission
