1/27 Meeting: Global Game Jam

Hello Everyone!

It’s here! The Global Game Jam is releasing its theme on Wednesday! We’ll be having a meeting to discuss the Jam on the day of its release (1/27)  from 7 PM- 8:30 PM EST.  Group searches specifically made for this game jam will be made available on Discord at the start of our theme reveal. We will be having a daily meeting on Saturday and Sunday to give a chance for people to observe other people’s projects for inspiration and ask for advice. Remember, communication is key! You are not expected to be there for the full duration of the game jam but, you should tell your teammates when you can or cannot work on the project. Coordinating your efforts will be key to finishing your game in time.

1/20 Meeting: Welcome Back!

Hello Everyone!

Hello everyone! It’s time to meet up again for Game Creation Club! We’re starting off the first meeting of the semester on Wednesday (1/20), from 7:00PM to 8:30PM EST. We’ll be showcasing old projects, discussing any events and jams coming up, and finally, just getting to know each other again after a hopefully relaxing break.

As an added note, we’ll be discussing positions you can apply for and holding officer elections this semester! We will go more into detail later about how those will work and how you can run for officer positions, but keep that in the back of your mind if you’re interested.

See you there!

11/11 Update: No Meeting This Week!

Hello everyone,

Just as a reminder, there is no meeting this week due to Veteran’s day! Last week was the start of the Asset Jam, and it’s still ongoing until the meeting on the next Wednesday, 11/18! On that day, we’ll showcase the assets that everyone’s created, so if you’d like to present, be prepared to talk about your creations.

If you’re still stuck on what to make for the Asset Jam, here’s a list of requests the club has brainstormed.

See you next week!

11/3 Meeting: Asset Jam

Hello everyone,

Hope you had a good Halloween Spooptober. The long awaited Asset Jam is here! This week’s meeting will be held this Wednesday (11/4), from 7-8:30 PM EST. We will discuss the Asset Jam and do some group brainstorming for each asset type (coding, art, music). Before the meeting, please think of some general assets that you might like to see, like how to code 3d movement, a castle furniture pack, funky techno music, etc. T-shirt order details for our club’s official design and how you can order one will be released this meeting.

See you all soon!

10/27 Meeting: Spoopy Scary Shirt Contest

Hey everyone,

This week’s meeting will be tomorrow from 7 PM to 8:30 PM EST. We’ll be discussing horror games and their recent rise in popularity. We’ll also be talking about the methods that can be employed in games to create tension, fear, and heightened alertness for players in general!

As a quick reminder, shirt designs are also due tomorrow by 12PM EST! You can submit them using the link at the end to enter the contest. 10/21 Meeting: Narrative

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed our talk with Greg last week! This week’s meeting is today, Wednesday, 10/21, 7 PM to 8:30 PM EST. We’ll be talking about the use of narratives in games. There’s a lot of content to cover, including types of narratives, character arcs, player choice, and etcetera, so we hope that this discussion will inspire you to flesh out some narratives in your own games!

Just a reminder – the shirt design contest is coming to a close! The due date is next week, 10/28, on the day of the following meeting. Please have your submission in before noon that day so that we have time to prepare your design for presentation. You can submit your design here! We will be voting on the winning design on the day’s meeting.

See you there!
